Monty

This is my sister's dog, Monty. He was a big, cuddly, wonderful old dog, and he went to doggie heaven about a month ago. I painted this for her birthday.

Sunny

I know I said I would hold off on posting paintings of dogs for awhile, but I was so happy with how this one turned out, I couldn't resist! This is the third portrait I've done for this family. It's on an 11"x14" panel.

Carmel

One more dog, and then I'm going to try and post paintings of other subjects for awhile! But Carmel is the second of three paintings I've done for the same family. Zacky was the first and I'm working on Sunny now. These cuties are really lucky to have such a loving home. Thanks, Linda, for asking me to paint all of them for you and your husband!

Jack

Jack is a brother to Maggie, a dog I painted before Christmas. The owners are friends and each asked me to paint their dog as a gift for their husbands. I love how Jack turned out. He's much more chiseled and muscular than his sister, but both of these dogs are two of my favorites. Jack is painted in oil on an 11x14 cradled board.

Truman

I've been busy with lots of commissions for holiday gifts so I haven't posted lately. I did finish my large koi triptych and will post final pictures as soon as I take some good ones. In the mean time, here's a painting (11x14") I finished for one of my sister's friends. His name is Truman.

Zacky and Monkey

Here's another of my dog portraits. This piece was done for Linda and is a surprise for her husband's birthday.

This is Zacky with his favorite toy, Monkey. I haven't painted a dog with such long hair before, but it turned out to be lots of fun to paint. And I was glad to be able to incorporate Monkey into the picture.

Skip

I've been REALLY bad about posting to my blog. In other words, I just haven't been posting! But I have been painting... here's a little terrier I finished a couple of weeks ago. His name is Skip

"Struttin'"

There's nothing like the confidence of a small dog. This one was was definitely struttin'! We had a corgi growing up, and he exuded the same confidence on those six inch legs when he was around other dogs.
I promise to add some paintings of subjects other than dogs in the next few posts. These have just been really fun to paint.

"Peek-a-Boo!"

Two more dogs to post. I decided to include the owner's legs with this pup. And below, "About Face", is a young border collie. I hope some of you get a chance to stop by the Pepper Place Market tomorrow!

Thanks for all of you comments this first week of blogging!

"Give Me a Minute!"

Couldn't resist the expression on this dog's face - a mix of exhaustion and enthusiasm (but mostly exhaustion!)

I want to thank everyone who has visited and/or commented on my artwork. It's a lot of fun to see what other people think of your work. And just so everyone doesn't think I'm only painting dogs, I'll add a few of the other small paintings. This one is a 5"x7" called "An Apple a Day."

"Look at Me!"

Here's another new dog. This one was strutting! If you're in the Birmingham area look for me at Pepper Place Market this Saturday from 7am 'til noon under the Birmingham Art Association tent. I'll have these paintings and lots more for sale down there.
