Radishes Feelin' Blue

I've been having some problems with my new posts not showing up on the blog lists of those of you nice enough to follow me. I still don't think it's fixed, but I'm going to keep posting anyway and hope someone will be able to help me figure this out.

Anyway, this is a painting of some long radishes I got from one of the farmers at the Pepper Place Market. It's painted on a 6"x12" board.

Cahaba Beauties

Here's another of the large cahaba lily paintings I did. These flowers are just amazing to see in person, but you have to catch them between Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day, and only in a few places in the world, Alabama being one of them. We're lucky to live close enough - about an hour away - and make a point to see them.

The "Not So" Wild Bunch

I painted a smaller, similar version of these onions a few months ago, and then decided to paint them larger. These are on a 12"x30" board. They work horizontally, but I think they're kinda fun as a long vertical. I wish I could think of some other long veggies that would be fun to paint. Thought of carrots, but I'm not so sure I want to paint them!

Singular Beauty

If anyone can make it to the Kentuck Festival of the Arts in Northport, AL this weekend I'll be in booth J12. It's the 40th anniversary of this show with lots of great artists. And the weather should be beautiful! I've painted several large (20"x30") cahaba lilies for the show, this being one of them. I hope to see some of you there!

The September spider lilies have all gone, but not before I snapped lots of reference of them! They're really stunning.

What Are You Looking At?

Saturday was a beautiful day for the 48th Annual Bluff Park Art Show. Thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth. I was fortunate enough to receive the Renasant Bank Cash Award for one of my cows ("Watchful") that I posted earlier, thanks to judge EvanWilson.

These two cows seemed to be as curious about me as I was about them, thus the title. It's painted on an 11"x17" board.

Baileys' Cup

We found this little cup at an antique shop a few months ago and I thought it would make for some fun paintings, so you might see it again. It actually says "Baileys'" over the open eye, but I decided to modify it a bit. Inside the bowl it says "YUM!" I've been painting a lot and posting very little, trying to get ready for the Bluff Park Art Show this Saturday. If you're in the Birmingham area please stop by. It's a wonderful show and the weather is supposed to be perfect. I'll be posting more often over the next few weeks.
